Matt Richer will be the head coach for the Captains 13U team this summer! Matt has been heavily involved at the Lakefront Dugout over the last several years by coaching winter hitting camps, coaching a winter catchers camp, and doing private lessons.
Owner of the Lakefront Dugout; Coach Nathan and Coach Matt have had a long relationship that has lasted almost two decades. The pair first met in middle school while playing travel baseball. Their love of baseball and hard work continued into high school where they became hitting partners and teammates while at Bradford High School.
In terms of Matt’s playing career, he was the starting catcher on Bradford’s 2008 State Championship team. Following high school, he played at the University of North Dakota and then Carthage College. While in college, Matt played in the Northwoods Summer League and Midwest Collegiate League. In 2013, Matt earned the Midwest’s Collegiate League’s batting title leading the entire league in average, and was named team most valuable player for the Dupage Hounds. In 2014, during his senior year at Carthage, Matt was also named to the All Conference Team. Additionally, Matt’s favorite playing accolade, Matt holds Carthage College’s single season hit by pitch record.
Matt earned his bachelor’s degree from Carthage College and juris doctorate from Marquette Law School. After law school he joined the United States Army Reserve and is an administrative law and fiscal law attorney assigned to the 214th Legal Operations Detachment. Matt is a trial lawyer at Alia, DuMez, & McTernan, S.C. and specializes in insurance defense and personal injury cases.
Matt has high standards and brings energy and life to all of his teams. We look forward to Matt coaching and helping to develop our players and program into the future.
ALL PLAYERS MUST BRING ALONG THEIR OWN CATCHING GEAR! GEAR WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.
This 5 week camp includes coaching on catching basics: receiving, throwing, and blocking. Improving these techniques will take players to the next level!
Dates: THURSDAYS, MARCH: 2ND, 9TH, 16TH, 23RD, & 30TH.
